Mind the Gap

My mom and I met in New York for lunch on Monday. Ya know, just met... in New York. No biggy. Of course it's a biggy--it's huge! She works for jetBlue Airlines and has awesome benefits. We ended up going to the Olive Garden. Lame--I know. Who flies all the way to New York to eat lunch at the Olive Garden? We do and we're not ashamed to admit it! We spent the day talking, talking, talking. We walked the Brooklyn Bridge and when we completed to walk we realized we didn't look out and see any of New York! We were so engrossed in conversation (very much NOT unusual) that we didn't even see that Big Apple.

Now, the pictures below have a story. When I was younger my parents, sister, and I took a little vacation to Europe. Now, before boarding the subway over there the same words are always heard, "Mind the Gap!" You see, there is a pretty substantial distance between the platform and the subway it self. I guess one too many tourists either tripped or partially fell into the gap. Therefore, the phrase is repeated every single time one wants to ride this particular mode of transportation. Naturally, the phrase has become apart of our family. Due to this attachment, when my mom and I saw this man wearing a shirt that said these very words we had to take a picture. At first we tried to act as unsuspicious as possible. We had my mom pose in front of him, and as I pretended to take a picture of her I was secretly trying to take a picture of his shirt. We were feeling pretty good about ourselves until the man behind us asked if we wanted him to take a picture for us. For some reason we got all flustered and revealed our secret plan. Why didn't we just abort the mission? Who knows, but I'm glad we didn't because now we have this picture with Mind-the-Gap-T-shirt Man! This will now forever be a memory never forgotten...

Mind the gap???? We should use this as a family motto. We should always mind and gap and keep our eyes on the same destination.
