Bad Omen?

Our apartment was not very welcoming the first night. We arrived in Virginia around 12:30pm and decided to unpack that night. Of course, we live on the third floor. What a cruel awakening that was for my unhealthy body. By the time all of our stuff was in our apartment it was around 1:30. So, we start putting things away and I realized that we have an alarm system. Once I saw it I asked Makay to help me set it. He sets it just fine, but when he tries to disarm it really loud sirens start going off in our room. We have no idea what to do. Makay tries again and again to turn it off, but the system will have nothing to do with that business. Using his knowledge of security systems, he begins to unscrew some panal thing. (As you can see through by vocabulary, my knowledge on these systems is not as extensive as my husbands...) We then find wires. A lot of them. As he begins to unscrew the one connecting the power, the system goes absolutely crazy! Finally, Makay does something with some wire and the extremely obnoxious sounds come to an immediate stop. Thank goodness. The irony is obvious. The reason for our stay in this part of the country is because Makay is installing security systems. I am choosing not to take this experience as a bad omen. However, it seems as if our neighbors have steered clear of us since we moved in. I guess they didn't like the early-morning wake-up call. Welcome to Virginia...

I hope that Makay does better on his next alarm system. I'm sure that he will learn in a hurry. I am happy that you are there and are safe. Are you close to Virginia Tech? I love you both.
